Hi guys,

Jumping forward a bit here as we've only just filed out I-129f in the last few days but I had a question about the co sponsor requirements when it comes to it. My fiancé and I are currently students so essentially have no income except student loans. My fiances mother makes just under the poverty guideline so members of my finances family have of course offered. We are likely to use her Aunt who is now retired.

A. Is this still possible as she is retired?

B. when we file if it is possible, will her income need to be enough for her household (2) & me? Or also my fiancé too?

Thanks guys!

In London, you will only need an affidavit from one person, so if using a co-sponsor, all you need is their I-134 and proof of income.

If they meet the requirement for their own household size plus the foreign fiance(e), then they can be the co-sponsor. The USC petitioner is not counted in their household size unless they are claimed as a dependent on the co-sponsor's taxes. They can use a benefits letter, 1099 and tax return showing the retirement amount, and/or bank statements showing how much is deposited to their account each month.
