Sentence question at naturalization interview?

Just a quick question, I was looking through some of the topics on this forum and some of you mention about sentences you have to say or write at the naturalization interview? whats that about, sorry if it's a stupid question, was just curious. :)

2/5/07 - 2 Year Green Card arrives!!! YAY!!!!

5/10/08 - Received RI Driver's License!

11/10/08 - Removing Conditions - Sent package out!

11/19/08 - Received Notice of Action - 1 year extension on my current green card - now waiting for biometrics letter.

11/28/08 - Received biometrics letter.

12/12/08 - Biometrics appointment - 10am.

01/13/09 - Still waiting............

06/08/09 - Card in production and on it's way!

06/22/09 - Received 10 Year Green Card! YAY!!

I think mine was something like "She is wearing a red dress" something really simple.


Jun 26, 06 - 129-F filed

Sep 27, 06 - NOA2

Nov 28, 06 - INTERVIEW SUCCESS!!!

Dec 12, 06 - VISA IN HAND

Dec 29, 06 - MARRIED!!

Jan 8, 07 - filed for AOS and EAD

Apr 3, 07 - EAD approved!!!

Apr 7, 07 - EAD card arrived!

May 10, 07 - Interview....APPROVED!!!

May 23, 07 - GC in hand

Feb 10, 09 - I-751 sent to CSC

Feb 12, 09 - NOA1

Apr 20, 09 - Approved!

Jun 12, 09 - Card Production Ordered

Jun 19, 09 - 10 year GC Received

So, do they just give you a sentence to read back to them, so they know that you can read, speak, breathe english? :blink: lol

Yeah that's it...I had to read one and write one....A real challenge!!! :P

The officer who interviewed me said I didn't have to do it because apparently I speak and understand the language. This was after we had a lengthy discussion over naturalization under section 319(a), which took about 30 minutes. I told him that if it's part of the testing process, I should do it. So he made me write, "My husband is waiting for me outside."

So yeah don't sweat it, you'll do just fine :)

09/11/2015 - Interview - PASSED!

09/18/2015 - Received oath letter

09/22/2015 - Oath Ceremony

Do they make the British citizens and Canadian citizens or anyone whose first language is English do this? It sounds ridiculous if they do.

Yes, they do. See the post right above yours (fair to all).

The DAH had to write "You cook very well."

I've certainly never heard him say it, so it was good he had to prove he could choke it out if he had to.
