K-1 Letter of intent resubmission?

Greetings,

We are new to the forums and very happy to find this community. My fiance and I just got our first notice, and I was re-reviewing our submission packet, and found the lawyer accidentally had us sign an earlier version of my fiance's letter of intent which was only partially completed. It correctly states who we both are, and that she will marry me upon arrival, but the middle paragraph where we intended to summarize when and how we met, it is left as the original template (i.e. literally says [fill in here]").

Our question: since the true purpose of the letter is intact and otherwise valid/signed, and they may not care, and could cause confusions/delays to submit a correction, is it best to leave it as-is? Or, is it super-critical this letter be perfect and contain details of our meeting, etc. and we should promptly re-submit? (related, is there such a thing as sending a single corrected sub-component of the I129-F application, or does the whole thing have to be re-submitted?

Thanks for any insight! We'll upload our timeline and let the group know what kind of turn-arounds we are getting. Thanks, Andrew and Yuan.

Welcome to the forum.

No middle paragraph such as you describe is necessary for letters of intent.

No clue where your lawyer got that idea.

The only necessary text is found in the download here:

Do NOT attempt to send anything at this point -- the chances are microscopic that it would meet up with your file, which is in a box on a shelf at the USCIS service center by now.

If you get an RFE (request for evidence) when your file is finally looked at, then you can respond. I anticipate no RFE for this issue.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

were you wanting to glom an 'evolution of relationship' document in with an 'intent to marry' document ?

yes? no ? if no, yer good.

if yes, well, yer lawyer messed up.

Sometimes, an evolution of relationship doc is a must for casefiles headed to Guangzhou IV, is difficult to get it into the casefile after original I-129F petition submission. She could certainly bring one on interview day, unsure if any Vice-Consul will have time to read it during the 5 minutes of the interview.

as to the 'version control' from the lawyer - eh - that's massively sloppy. Remember, we are primary a DIY web portal with peer review.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

TBoneTX and Darnell, thanks much for the replies! Good news is that the evolution of our relationship is well documented and separately from this letter. Agreed I don't know why the template had the middle paragraph except maybe as filler/style. Will update the community how it comes out; pretty clear that we should not send any correction at this point, but have our correct version available at the interview. Cheers, Andrew and Stephanie.
