Good evening you all!

So glad that I stumbled across this forum.

I filed my N-400 late September and received an Notice of Receipt Oct 8th. And I haven't heard anything since.. My case status online is still "Case Received", but my friend who filed her application after me already had her biometrics done in November.

The processing time page on uscis says that my field office is processing cases received in the past 5 months. Should I be worried and call them?

Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Yes, something's wrong. You should have relieved your biometrics letter within 30 days of the NOA. Your biometrics letter may have been lost in the mail and you may have missed your appointment. You should call USCIS tomorrow and see if you can schedule an Infopass appointment to visit them in person if your field office is nearby.

It sounds like you have 2 more months to go, if they have a 5 months processing time.

What does your online status say?

The op's status says "case received".

I think the op means that the field office is finalizing n400 applications within 5 months. It is vey usual for three months to have passed without a biometrics appointment letter.

Online status says "case received". And as for the processing time frame, I'm not quite sure if they mean they are initiating or finializing the cases received within the past 5 months. Either way, I'm going to call them and see what's going on.

Thank you both for replying, I will keep you guys updated.

I called them today and was told I should've have my biometrics done by mid November. They are also not sure why I wasn't scheduled. They filed a claim for me and I should be expecting a reply within 15 days.

Do you guys know if there's a way that they'll expedite my application because my green card will expire in July, and it's really not my fault that my application got delayed..

USCIS will NOT expedite your naturalization application simply because your GC has expired or will expire before approval is provided. Incidentally, a green card is merely evidence of your status and you are still a lawful permanent resident, even if your GC has expired. Further there is no rule requiring you to renew your GC while your naturalization application is pending and lack of a renewed GC should not hold up your naturalization approval.

USCIS may not schedule a biometric appointment if they already collected your biometrics within the last 15 months.

While that's the official rule, I am yet to come across a case where USCIS didn't make every N400 applicant redo biometrics regardless of whether or not they had just done them. Have you come across any cases or did it happen to you? I'd love to document them, because the impression is that they ignore this rule and make everyone do biometrics.
