Visits after the wedding- before status change

what was just suggested is considered visa fraud. Try coming to the US and telling border control you are using your tourist visa to stay and see what happens. It won't be wedding bells.

However, I read that he will not be able to leave the country and re-enter the USA on his K-1 visa anymore after the wedding. Can he use his tourist visa? How long will we have to wait for him to be able to leave the country and return to the USA? How long is the status change process?

As others have said, this won't be possible.

Not only would the tourist visa be cancelled after the K1 is issued, but even if the tourist visa somehow survived he would not be able to use it to re-enter the US after getting married - its a tourist visa - for tourists! He'd be entering with the intention to live in the USA, hence not a tourist.

AOS took around 60 days for me (to get the temporary advanced parole and work permit).
