Hi Everyone!

Back to the boards as I get ready to start my naturalization journey!

Wondering about how much evidence to include with the packet when you submit it. I've read the guides but they're getting outdated. How much evidence did you all send? Do you send some of the same package items that you used for initial applications? Like take the set of photos and add to them? Do you include documents that were used previously like bank statements going back to the beginning and such? I'm just not clear on how many pieces of evidence to send with the application. We are all going to get interviewed anyway so is front-loading necessarily needing to be heavy? Any tips are appreciated.

The second part of my question is about trips outside the U.S. I have NOT been keeping track of them since I go back to Canada every 2-5 weeks or so for a weekend here and there. I can't possibly list them all. Should I attach a document explaining that?

Thanks! Looking forward to joining in for this part of the journey!

I only sent in my marriage certificate and kids birth certificate. I filed under 3 years rule. I brought all the other stuff to the interview-joint tax returns, utilities for the last three years, bank statements,we had just signed a contract for a house so I brought that, credit card, health insurance all for the last three years. Are you filing under three years rule? Oh I also sent copy of green card back and front and 2 passport pics

I only travel once since I got green card so it was easy for me. Someone else may help you with that one. Good luck on your journey :)

You need to list all of the trips to the best of your ability. Go through your email looking for plane ticket reservations.

This is actually super important as they need to verify that you've been fulfilling the residency requirements of having a Green Card.

Be aware that the interviewing agent will have access to any computerized travel records available for you, in real time, on their computer.

I don't have plane tickets or emails regarding trips as we are very close to the border. We drive back and forth to Canada on a regular basis for weekends and such. If the interviewing agent actually has access to my comings and goings then I'm even more inclined to NOT to overthink it! This was the same challenge I had during my initial application for residency since I travel back and forth almost every weekend. I think I'll list the 5 most recent trips or however many spaces there are and attach a letter explaining that we go back and forth to visit since my whole family is there and it's a 5 hour drive. My residency requirements are completely satisfied.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I'm also under the three year rule. I have a huge binder already prepared with updated evidence since removing conditions and then the items from our initial application for residency and removal of conditions. This way I have a complete set of evidence dating back to the beginning should they ask for any of it. It seems that since we are going to be called in for any interview no matter what it isn't necessary to front-load like during the other steps? If I'm wrong please let me know! I'm here for guidance.

Are you using your NEXUS card? If so, I would just stop in at CBS on your way back home and see if they can pull up that information and give it to you.

FYI,

I called NEXUS and was told that they cannot release my departure/arrival information for my NEXUS card. If you come across an answer for this can you post it here? I am also filing for citizenship in the next couple of weeks.

I did find this for passport information though (see below)

Thanks. I did look at this previously. Unfortunately that is not for driving back and forth across the border. I'm AOL and have to go by my fail memory! I wrote a letter to accompany the list of dated I do know. It will be what it will be!

I am in the same situation with travelling from Windsor to Detroit. Initially when we filed for my K visa, the same question was asked more or less in reverse. I could not possibly list all the trips I had made to the States and so included an 'anecdotal' attached paper estimating the number of times per week or month that I went over for shopping and the odd vacation that I could pin down actual dates.

I plan to do the same for this... estimating the number of times per week or month that I went over for visiting (specific relatives) and shopping and the odd funeral or party that I could actually pin down dates.

. I was wondering about contacting NEXUS since I do use it, but sounds like that's not possible. But they can get that information quite easily and I will include my Nexus number and information in this attached paper answering that question.

Good luck to us! .

FWIW I previously had to do this for ROC and I just went by my memory, Facebook postings, and put a little note at the bottom or the attachment stating that there may have been more trips but that I "certified that at no time did I take a trip more than six months out of the country or was out of the country more than 180 days combined within one year" (which is what they're looking for). I was fine then, I expect to be fine now for my N-400.

I'm planning on filing for naturalization under the three years rule very soon. But when reading a two page guide to naturalization I found on the USCIS website form g-1151 "thinking about aplying for naturalization?" I read it says to be eligible "show that you have been physically present in the US for the last 30 months. In some cases this may be 18 months if you are married to a U.S. citizen"

My heart sank, I don't know when there will be a time that I will stay away from Canada for that long, I go back and forth often, though I live in California and go to bc, ontario or New Brunswick- and stay for longer. Does it really mean that I have to not leave the U.S. at all for 18 months straight? By reading all your posts I think maybe not, after all?

All my trips have been driving, I will also have to estimate.
