I need help clarifying what my joint sponsor needs to put for household income.

Part 6, Question 2. My sponsor's individual annual income is 180k, which is over the 125% poverty guidelines.

My joint sponsor files his taxes jointly with his wife, who makes 44k, for a total of over 220k.

My question is, since my joint sponsor makes over the 125% poverty guidelines, does he need to include his wife in question 3 (Income you are using from any other persons who was counted in your household size)? If not, would his household annual income be 177k (even though the real household income is 200k)? And will the wife need to fill out an i864a?

I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the help.

The best practice would be to state his income as his, hers as hers and the totals from the tax returns, on both the I-864 and her accompanying I-864a. Consular officers tend to think like mature adults, who, when they read the contract in the I-864, realize this is a considerable obligation, that impacts the whole family.
