Ty for the response on my question, line 22 of my 2014 return reads 21000 with a gross income of 48000, how many years back do they usually want?

Current income is all they care about. Past income shows consistency and could be a second factor depending on the individual.

Ty again! I have several bank accounts that total over 70k, will this hold any merrit in the interview?

Sure. You can also list assets on the I-134 and provide statements to prove ownership and net value. They are not needed if you meet the income requirement, but if you still wish to include them you certainly can.

Same here, I didn't want (or even know how to start a new thread) my question is also in regards to the employment part. Here's the deal, I fell in love and I came to live with my girlfriend in Mexico. I've been living with her for 2 years now. We just got engaged and I recently found out about this K1 Visa. I'll be moving in with parents and working hard to save up starting January. I haven't filled taxes for the past two years.

So in this case what should my timeline be like? I know I will be able to get a good job and prove I can support my fiancee and her 6 year old son. No doubt about that.

Once I have all the cash I need to start my petition should I wait until I have completed a certain amount of months/years with my employer?

Do they require the Tax forms for the past two years? or is that just an option on what to send in as prove of income?

I'll be sending in the pay stubs, bank account information and employment letter.

Would they frown upon the fact that I haven't filled any taxes for the past 2 years?

How can I explain that I didn't need to file taxes? As I am sure I don't make more than 10 grand a year. I get paid very little here in Mexico. (I read than you need to make at least 10,150 to file taxes)

Thanks in advance for your advice my friends :)

Current income will be the most important and can be proven with letter from employer and pay stubs. You can include a statement as to why you were not legally required to file taxes. Only the most recent year is required to be submitted. It is possible to be approved this way, but if you have no taxes or income to show an ongoing stable income, it is possible they could ask for a co-sponsor.

Current income is all they care about. Past income shows consistency and could be a second factor depending on the individual.

For self-employed, they use line 22 of the most recent 1040. Self-employed do not tend to have letters from employers(since they are their own) or pay stubs. It is important for those that are self-employed to have their total income amounts shown on their tax return along with all schedules(such as C)..
