Question about K1 processing at USCIS

Hi,

I did some searching but most posts I found were older. From what I understand, only CSC and TSC are still processing K1s. If that is the case, then why is there a report of average processing times for VSC on this website? Apparently the NOA2 is taking 88 days only with VSC? My addresses will all be in NY, so I had assumed until today that this is where my application would go. Now I fear it may go to TSC.

Additionally, If our application has no problems, is it realistic to imagine we will have a shorter wait time? I have also read in this forum that people who are at the extreme end of the wait time is usually due to application errors and needing followup information. My situation is fairly simple. I have been married before, but he was a US citizen and we divorced 8 years ago. I met my fiance while completing my dissertation research and we have known each other for a year. He has never been married before.

Any thoughts would be appreciated and if I missed the answer to these questions, my apologies. There is quite a bit of info on this site, but not all of it is recent. And we all know things can change with gov entities suddenly and without warning. Thank you

Welcome to the forum! You can ignore statistics for the VSC. Your I-129F petition (not K-1 visa application -- that's later) will be mailed to the Texas Lockbox (different from the TSC); from there, it will be routed to whichever of the two Service Centers can better handle it (currently the CSC). Look at current CSC timelines for estimated processing.

Of which country is your fiance a citizen? It's natural to focus on the initial USCIS phase right now, but you might need to tailor the contents of your I-129F petition for the eventual eyes of the consulate.

Thanks for the response! My fingers are crossed for CSC.

My fiance is Indonesian, which worries me greatly. I have done research here for the last 3 years and know all too well what it is like to deal with the visa process. Is there a specific place that can help give information regarding this tailoring? I am already getting a prenup drafted but it won't be signed and copleted until late next month. I have to say that coming back to Indonesia for his interview process at the embassy may be impossible for several reasons. I think I need to start searching "Indonesia" in this forum for more advice...

This is extremely helpful, thank you again! I just found it. It looks like this process is not so bad here, which is the opposite of almost everything I have experienced.

My fiance lives in Indonesia. My dissertation research wraps in January and I will be going back to the states then.

Correct; Indonesia isn't as bad as some.

You might add some evidence of your bona fide relationship to your petition package.

USCIS won't care about it, but the consulate will.

Search for threads with "front-loading" as their subject.

Most of the VJ members who list that they are at VSC are just conused. They, like you, went to the USCIS website, put in their zip code and were told that they'd be handled by VSC and they just don't know otherwise. Once, to show this to someone, I went through Igor's List (here:http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?form=1&visa=1&scenter=2&option=3&sortby=2) looked into the proviles of the couples who had been "sent to" VSC in 2015 (only 7) and showed that most of them were actually in TSC (things like, they belonged to threads like December 2014 TSC filers and such).

Also, I have long suspected but can't really prove that people who have some real problems get forwarded to VSC for processing. Things involving IMBRA topics (things that could really set off alarm bells for possible trafficking/ US citizen with particular types of criminal history etc). VAWA claims are handled at VSC and I wonder if they have specialized staff with this kind of training there, and if a flag is raised at TSC or CSC, they get transferred there for further processing. Anecdotaly, from having read a bit in the IMBRA forum, it seems like this is possible, but I could be totally making that up. This also is in no way to suggest that people transfered to VSC are doing anything wrong, just maybe someone somewhere was concerned about something and forwarded it along. Who knows.

For you, you'll all but certainly be at CSC. And if not, you'll be among the first "in line" at TSC. They haven't taken new petitions since the beginning of April and are currently working on March filers. Which means if you get sent there, you'll be at the top of the pile. The backlog is over, at least for now.

Hmmmmm, I didn't really think about that before mailing the application unfortunately. It's a bit difficult for us to have this type of stuff because we live in the same village. We just call or walk over to see each other. I suppose I could have printed what'sapp chats? I did send in our prenup draft at least in both languages. We will just cross this bridge when the time comes. I'm trying to be very zen about the entire process.

What happens after your approved for 129-f At your service center .?
