Hello to all of you. First of all, my apology for this long post.

I need some opinion and advice and from that, i can weigh things on what to do.

My tatay (father), on his late 50s, has TB. I just spoke to his lady doctor days ago and she said he needs to be treated 6 months or more but we are still waiting for his other lab results because the doc doesn't want to just give TB treatment that will hurt tatay's kidney, liver, heart, who are "acting up" (not really that sick but not that really healthy either and needs to be cautious in giving other medicines).

But i'm confused on what to do, because according to this link i found here on VJ, that if outside treatment is chosen, we have to wait a year for a new medical exam.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/541299-info-from-slec-if-applicant-choose-to-do-acceptable-tb-treatment-from-local-physician-other-than-slec/

Now i need advice if we will go for the outside treatment (his doc) or just wait until his SLEC Medical so that SLEC will treat him according to their standards and we don't need to wait another year as the link says. But i have no idea when his slec medical wil be because i dont know at this time yet how far we are with regards to processing because i just sent aos and other documents to nvc 8 days ago and not paid yet with IV AND D260 is not filled out yet. And one more thing, if i Show SLEC my father's medical history and papers and that he needs a gentle treatment for TB to be able to not hurt his kidney lungs heart, im afraid he will deny him and think he is ailing.

I dont wanna sound selfish that i am just after for his fast migration here, but if it's possible than waiting or another year, i would do it. Ive been away from home for7 years now.

Thank you for all the response. Thank you for your time.

It won't take a year for NVC to process things, you could be looking at only a few more months. It is an extremely difficult choice.

Outside the box thought. Do you have a letter or anything from NVC with the MNL # on it? I ask because if your dad could do his medical early, he could then get treated by SLEC.

Hello Hank, thank you for your reply.

I have here welcome letter from NVC with Case MNL #. I also have checklist and a paper with barcode which i returned when i sent AOS and documents in one packet. I believe Tatay has also a welcome letter sent to him and he kept it. Is it possible for him to go early medical and be treated by SLEC?

If it has the MNL # on it I would say YES.

Nice thing is the TB treatment is included in the cost of the medical, but the other side of that coin is your dad will have to complete a 2nd medical upon completion of the TB treatment. But you would be doing this no matter with your situation. Going this route will get you months ahead in the visa chase.

Wow! That sounds good to me. Yes you're right, no matter what, i will have the 2nd medical anyway so id rather do the treatment at SLEC but i dont know how. Should he do this to St. Lukes as part of immigration process or as a regular patient? If as part of immigration requirements, how do we start by just havbing a welcome letter and not the interview schedule letter from the USEM?

Again, Thank you Hank.

Your dad goes to SLEC with copies of his letter from NVC with the MNL #, pays the fee for the medical. If they spot TB issues he will 1st have to complete the SPUTUM testing (up to 60 days), if that is positive he will then have to start treatment (DOT - Direct Observation Therapy, meaning he has to go to SLEC every day to take medicine for the 6 months (not weekends from what I have read) ) No matter how you approach this, the SPUTUM would be required.

Follow the requirements on the SLEC website. http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#required-docs

Sounds like he has a lot of medical issues, the US is not a good place to be if you have medical issues and no money.

Wow, so it's like more than 6 months becaue of the sputum test. But "wow"s me even more is that everyday he has to come for the medication? He is limping and very slow. they won't be considerate to give him a week pills?

Nope won't give him a supply of pills. That is why it is DIRECT OBSERVATION... they oversee the medication.

Hi boiler. Thank you for your respond.

His valve on his heart is enlarging, he has arthritis that is why he is limping but when no arthritis attack, he dances :D and this is the latest, he has tb.

Also the reason i want him to come here, for better treatment without having to depend on taxpayer's money. Thank God, because of him, i finished a degree and landed me a job that can afford to pay parent's health insurance and apartment.

Yeah i missed that. Direct observation. Well, we just need to do what we got to do.

A lot of thanks to you. I appreciate all your inputs and time.
