Please help us. We'll be starting our K1 journey pretty soon but we're quite confused regarding salary above 125% of poverty line. My fiance's earning $1,100/month and still living with his parents and sister. All of them are working. I'm from Philippines. Do we still need to have a co-sponsor or his salary's enough to support us? What do we need to do? Thank you very much.

How big is his household size, meaning ow many people are listed as dependents on his tax return? If it is only him, and he is sponsoring you then for a household size of 2, he needs an annual income of $19,912.

His monthly income of $1100 won't be enough and you should look into finding a co-sponsor.

$1100 per month will not be enough for you and your fiancé.

Even though your fiancé lives with his parents and sister, he doesn't need to include them in his household size. So his household size should only be 2: you and him. Based on 125% of the poverty line, his income needs to be $19,912. This is about $1659 gross income before taxes.

Your fiancé will either need a 2nd job to raise his income level OR he can try to use a co-sponsor. Co-sponsors in Philippines are accepted on a case by case basis only.

I'm sorry. Let me correct my statement. He's earning $2,200/month. He doesn't have any dependents listed on his tax return.

Ahh, okay. Then that would mean he earns about $26,400 putting him over the minimum. His income alone looks like it's enough to sponsor you.

Thank you for the response. Do we still need to prepare bank account statements and other assets?

Thank you for all your quick responses. We appreciate it. God bless us all and god bless our K1 journey.?

Nope, no need for bank statements or assets.

Nope, bank account statements and assets are not needed. It's only necessary when income is not enough and you are using assets to meet the minimum.

Yes that is enough. You only need to meet the poverty guidelines of the I-864P 125% requirement.
