Expedite Request Approved :)

Hi all, after being stuck at NVC since Feb,
we have finally be able to move the case forward.

Here's what it says in the email:
"The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case for expedited processing. This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General."

I have also called NVC and confirmed with a super nice rep called Julie that our request is granted and the case should be sent to the local consulate shortly even the case is still pending for review (our second scanned date is 17th Sept).

My husband had sent a request earlier but was denied, then I decided to do it again and YAY!
(I was not that confident because English is not my native language)
Thanks to my 4-year incredible academic writing training in university and I really felt like I was writing an essay to my professors when I was drafting the request. And NVC gave me a straight A (for Approval) right away!

As far as I understand, once the status is changed from "at NVC" to "in transit" to "Ready",
then I can call the local consulate and schedule my interview.
Please kindly correct me if I am wrong.

I am really hoping this nightmare will end soon (finger-crossing)
Thanks to VJ for the very useful information here
and I shall keep you all posted with my visa application :)

That's great, congratulations. :joy:

Our case has also been stuck at NVC since February. How were you able to get an expedite, I thought they only did that for medical emergencies? Did you request the expedite with NVC or the US embassy in China?

Yes they usually grant an expedite if there's any urgent medical needs/ serious financial hardship etc.

(Luckily) my husband was suffering from pneumonia previously so I decided to give it a try. (I was joking with him and said "I'm glad that you got sick haha")
I have also mentioned the financial burden of living separately is increasing and so on.

You send the letter of request to: NVCExpedite@state.gov
Then shortly after they will send you an email saying
"Your request for the expeditious processing of this immigrant visa petition is currently under review. You will be informed of the results when the review is completed."

Then few days later you will receive an email from NVC saying if it is approved or not.
It is actually the consulate decision (I will have my interview in Hong Kong, not China though) as I have been told.

I have seen your timeline, is it true that you got your medical exam in June already?
That's so interesting because I thought you are supposed to do it after CC?

How come you case seems to be so quiet since June?
We had tried getting help from senators because they provided no help,
my American friend who has experience in this told me that congressmen would be a better option.

That's great, congratulations. :joy:

Update: NVC really did IMMEDIATELY send my case to the consulate in HK.
(The expedite was approved on 9th OCT- Friday, and then the case was forwarded yesterday- soon after Columbus Day)
My case status has changed to 'in transit'.

Thanks for the info about the expedite. We'll give it a go based on the financial hardship.

We were expecting case complete in June and I had a job waiting for me in the US. Had to be over there by end of August at the latest, so we wanted to make sure all was ready and quick process, hence we already did the medical. You can still do it even though you don't have case complete. The only thing is that you have six months to move over from the date of the medical, or re-do it. Lost the job now because of f-ing NVC.

Not sure why our case was standing still for that long. We called and emailed so many times but they refused to put us through to the supervisor until like day 70 or something. Then after that when they've tried, the supervisor has been unavailable and when we give our number, he/she never calls back. It's crazy. Our Senator contacted NVC pretty fast though and our case has since moved to a "Senator review team", whatever that is. So at least now we're seeing some movement on our case. It looks like the issue is with my DS-260, it still hasn't been reviewed after five and a half months. But it looks like the Senator is helping. Gonna give NVC till the end of the week, then we're calling again on Monday and then I think we'll try the expedite.

Thank you again for the information. Really appreciate it. Good luck with the interview.

I am sorry about the loss of the job offer :( it really sucks when you have already planned everything and then watch it all messed up...
I do know that Sylvia from DS 260 reviewing department can review the DS 260 for you in a very short time, or even over the phone.
That's what she did for us when we were waiting for DS 260 to be reviewed.

We just kept calling and calling until we reached a supervisor, that's actually how we found out that there's something wrong with my birth certificate or we would never know. They never call you back. So You got to keep calling and calling.

Yes I think you should try asking for an expedite, it won't slow down the progress anyway.
It would be better if you can attach some sort of evidence like your bank statement, western union money transfer receipts and etc.
I have seen people doing that and they got an approval.

Please keep us posted and best of luck! :)

Congratulations! So basically you are now waiting for their instructions... I have been told that if your case is being expedited, then the consulate will schedule the earliest available timeslot for you.

Please let us know when you got the interview date! I'm really looking forward to it :D

Guess it really depends on how busy/competent the local embassy is... :(
Any good news? It shouldn't take that long though...

Still no news for me...Just called NVC, they told me they did send my email to the embassy. 10 days and still no answer. :crying:
