Hi to all of the VJs!

I am a bit confused on how to assemble the package for NVC including AOS, and IV.

On the website http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of your forms, financial evidence, and photocopies of your original civil documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package.

[...]

If neither Method 1: Email processing nor Method 2: Choice of processing applies to your case, mail your financial forms and evidence, supporting documents, translations, and photocopies, with the Document Cover Sheet included with your NVC Welcome Letter, to the following address:

National Visa Center
Attn: DR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

They are pretty clear they want everything in one package - do people divide AOS documents and IV documents in two folders? Are two different cover letters necessary?

Moreover, I am not sure what they mean with Document Cover Sheet. Is that something that arrives in the mail? I got my case number 10 days ago, filled DS261, paid AOS fee, but IV fee and DS260 are not available yet. I haven't received any NVC Welcome Letter yet - nor in email nor in postal mail (but for that, it might take a while I guess).

I suppose I have also to wait for the IV fee to be paid and the DS260 to be filled before sending the documents in, correct?

Best, and sorry for the many (stupid) questions. This process is so confusing sometimes!

If you want, you could divide it into 2 folders. I personally didn't. You can submit the documents once you pay the AOS fee and complete the Choice of Agent form. We submitted the documents using the checklist/barcode cover sheet that came with our welcome letter.

To get the document cover sheet, you can click on 'paid' on the ceac portal and scroll down. There, you can click 'print document cover sheet'.

The most important thing is the barcode but, the only difference is on the IV cover sheet, the address is different. So, I don't know if you want to wait until you pay the IV fee to get the cover sheet so you can put the AOS and IV covers on the appropriate documents.

Ok, so this is what I am missing at the moment.

Has anybody else submitted the documents before the IV fee was generated and paid, and DS260 made available and filled? It seems for some reason a bit risky to me.

Most people submit it before the IV fee is available so they can get a head start on their scan date.

If you want the IV fee generated quickly all you have to do is call NVC and have one of the reps review the DS-261 over the phone. Once they do that, they'll generate the IV fee and you'll get the invoice id in a few days.

I wonder if we should at least wait for the "checklist/barcode cover sheet" to arrive in our mail, or not?

You could call and request that they e-mail it to you. Honestly, I don't think it's important since what they really just need is the barcode that's on it. It's the same barcode as the one on the cover sheet you can get from the CEAC portal.

call the nvc now, and update your case and information, the IV fee will probably be available tomorrow, if you wait for them you are wasting time, call .......now

just called. they said they cannot review DS261 on the phone before next week, because our file 'arrived there only very recently' (we got the NVC case number 10 days ago, not sure what the operator meant with that).
