Thanks to you guys Im almost done preparing all required documents for K1 visa.. here's what I have so far, please tell me if I'm missing something

For petition

  • I-129F
  • 2 Letters certifying intent to marry
  • G-325A and passport style photo
  • G-325A and passport style photo
  • Naturalization Certificate
  • Proof of having met in person in the past two years (pictures)
  • Proof of ongoing relationship (Skype screenshots)
  • G-1145 – e-NOTIFICATION
  • Plane tickets
  • Hotel confirmation (reserved online)

For interview

  • W2 copy (tax return)
  • I-134 Affidavit of Support (will update prior interview)

Now questions:

1) I became citizen after I returned to the US from visiting her so I used my old passport and that one has the stamps from airports. Do I include copy of it (to prove my visit)?

2) G-325A has on top and bottom a cell for File Number A and Alien Registration Number A. she has never been in the US and never filed any docs previously so I put N/A, right? and for myself I in both cells put the one indicated on Naturalization Certificate, right?

3) http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1forms This page shows bunch of DS forms, all but DS-160 are provided by the embassy (prior interview I hope so I can help fill them up), I guess we need them after embassy receives our package. what about 160? do I send it now, or sometime later?

4) We really dont use Skype but to my understanding its the best option to prove ongoing relationship (screenshots of happy faces and call logs), but we do use Whatsapp everyday, problem is we dont communicate in English. Can I show them just screen shots (embassy staff speaks the language we communicate - I emailed them with bunch of questions and one was regarding language) or I need translate it

5) Police Certificate - when do we really need it, right now before I send all forms or in embassy when she comes for interview

this is from travel.state.gov

You must send a photocopy of your police certificate(s) to the NVC.

You must submit a photocopy of your police certificate(s) to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.

So far that's all.

Thank you for any help in advance

You don't have a timeline, and you don't say which consulate you'll be dealing with.

Unless you're dealing with a softball consulate (Manila, and most Visa Waiver Program countries), you should front-load your I-129F petition package with proof of your bona fide relationship -- at least some, and in some instances a lot.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Embassy is in Almaty, Kazakhstan. proof of seven years conversation (emails, txt msgs, calls) must be enough for bona fide relationship. Anything else you can help with?

That's a lot of evidence -- include a good portion of it that spans the duration of your relationship.

The police certificate's date typically needs to be within 6 months of the interview (if I'm mistaken, someone will correct this). Check "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy" (links atop any VJ page), and look for relevant threads in the "Europe & Eurasia" regional forum, for the embassy's expectations on this and other topics.

Communications and documents that are in the native language of the country don't have to be translated. Try the screen shots.

You can definitely use your old passport's stamps to prove your recent visit.

Others here can fill in the missing answers.

Okay, I received signed Letter of intent from her yesterday and I'm about to print out everything I've prepared..

could anyone add little more info for #3 and 4 questions?

— #3. DS forms are filled up after embassy receives the package and contacts me (or her), correct?

— And #4 we communicate in russian, as I said above, members in embassy speak russian too, BUT the package first goes through NVC - so, do I translate chat for them or leave it in russian?

3. If you didn't find the answer in the resources mentioned above, post a new topic in the "Europe & Eurasia" forum, with a title like "When to Fill Out DS Forms for Kazakhstan?"

4. I-129F petitions spend very little time at the NVC, which is essentially a "whistle-stop" between USCIS and the embassy. Seven years is a great timespan of evidence. Perhaps top your selected Russian-language communications with a page that says "Selected Correspondence in Russian, Spanning 7 Years -- Please Pass to Almaty Embassy as Evidence of Bona Fide Relationship."

There are to separate processes for obtaining a K-1 visa. First is the I-129F petition. Once the I-129F petition is approved, then the foreign fiance(e) is eligible to apply for a K-1 visa at the consulate in their country. That would be the second part of the process and the time for the DS-160. Check your consulate's website to see if they have info and instructions for applying for a K-1 visa there. You can read up on it and get prepared for that process and its requirements.
