On the DS-160 form, there is a question under the 'Security and Background: Part 1' section that asks: "Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?"

I'm a little confused by this.

My fiancee has her medical exam scheduled for the beginning of October. I'm assuming she will receive all of her required vaccinations (for U.S. entry) at the medical exam.

Should we be selecting "Yes" since she will have completed her examination and received her shots in early October and will have the required documentation before her interview?

Or should "No" be selected since at the time this DS-160 form is submitted (she will probably submit this tomorrow or the day after) she hasn't had all of her required vaccinations done.

Maybe I'm really overthinking this and it's a dumb question, but this whole K1 process has made me read and take everything literally.

Yes, because this form is reviewed at the time of her interview and by then she will have received all required vaccinations.

You better double check that she will receive her shots at the exam. Most don't do that, and if her shot aren't up to date some need to be taken with some time apart.

I don't know how they do it in South Korea but when you go for the medical all that should be done already

You're correct.

When she goes to the exam, she will have to provide her immunization record.

I don't think she has a copy of all her immunization records, in which chase, the panel physician will have to work with her to determine which vaccinations she will need to meet the requirement.

Yes, because this form is reviewed at the time of her interview and by then she will have received all required vaccinations.

Thanks!

We are applying for IR-1 so we have a similar question but on the DS-260 form. We decided to answer this question very honestly and reflect the situation when we filled the form. My husband wrote:

"I have documents that show I have fulfilled most of the vaccination requirements except for (1) Hepatitis B - I have taken the first two doses of the vaccine but am not sure I have complete documentation on them; and (2) I'm not sure I've taken the Haemophilus Influenza type B vaccine. I will be sure to get the Haemophilus Influenza B vaccination as part of the required medical exam, prior to my interview at the consulate, and I will look for the documentation regarding the hepatitis B vaccination. I will also discuss this with the physician during the medical exam."

We did the medical exam and in fact forgot to mention these things to the doctor, but he didn't say that my husband needed any additional vaccinations. Maybe he is waiting for the results of the blood test, anyhow we're supposed to go back to pick up the paperwork 3 days before the interview so we'll discuss with him then.

I can let you know how it turns out for us, but his interview isn't until October 8th. We just thought we'd better off being honest and say if he's missing anything he's willing to do get it, but to put the current status at the time we filled out the DS-260, not what would be after the medical exam.
