New subject. does any one know what i do if my wife and I have already applied for her visa and now wish to adopt a child here before heading stateside?

what kind of child? If it is an orphan from an official orphanage, they can help with the paperwork and it is relatively straightforward; once the child is officially yours, ie has a US citizen parents.

If it is the child of living parents, especially relatives, that would slow your immigration to the USA as you need 2 years physical custody before you can get a visa for the adopted child.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Actually my wifes friend knows a lady that is due soon and cant afford the child nor prenatal care and wants us to take the baby after child birth. It would actually put our names on the birth certificate.

I know i dont want to see another child wind up in an orphanage and my wife would love to be a mother from infancy on.
