Hi everyone!

I tried doing a search, but either no one has really touched on this, or I can't string together the appropriate terms to find the info I'm looking for. It would probably also help if NVC gave a little more info regarding electronic processing, but I guess that is to be expected.

Essentially I'm wondering what the typical timeline would be for electronic filing. I submitted all of our documents to NVC on 8/11/15, but we have not heard anything back yet. I have read in other posts that it typically takes NVC 30 days to acknowledge receipt of an email, but I wasn't sure if this applied to e-filing as well. Are we still "on track" as far as normal processing time is concerned?

Also, does e-filing typically speed up the process? I would thing that the documents would be electronic sent to Consulate in Rio, as opposed to mailing. Judging by my previous experiences with dealing with he Brazilian Postal Service, skip this alone should expedite the process pretty considerably.

Sorry if this subject has been covered before, and thanks in advance for any help.

I think I saw where someone got a reply in like 8 days about a checklist item.

I think the 30 days applies to electronic filing as well. Your documents will get their quicker and it looks like they may get priority when reviewing.

They should have acknowledge receipt of your e-mail. Check with them to see when they acknowledge receiving your e-mail.

Even though the NVC and the Consulate would not utilize the Brazilian Postal Service (DHL is used instead), an electronic transfer of a file is still faster.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I decided to call the NVC today, and sort of got an answer to my question.

Basically, it can take up to 45 days for them to review any documents sent via email. Which really doesn't make it any faster than snail-mail filing. I also asked if I would receive a confirmation email letting me know my documents were received, and the answer was a resounding "maybe". Not very reassuring.

So, I was instructed to wait until 45 days have passed (we're on day 36 now), then call again to check to see if my documents are being reviewed. If they still do not have the documents in the system then, my only option is to resend the documents, and start the waiting game all over again. Definitely not feeling warm and fuzzy about that possibility.

I think I heard about the 45 day review before. Unfortunately some of the NVC reps just repeat something they heard or think they heard.

What I don't like is they are not open to giving an update on the status of the case. They should be able to confirm they received your documents. Call again and hopefully you get to speak to another agent who may be more helpful.

Hi,

Sorry I just saw your thread now. I think I can give you some reference because I'm Brazilian and filed with EP too.

I firstly had a very good surprise and then a really bad one:

Good surprise: my documents were reviewed in 10 days - I sent my documents on August 24 and got my third N/A on September 4

Bad news: Even though my case is technically complete, it's not in the interview queue because somehow the NVC has lost my i-130 (it's a document the USCIS sends them after NOA2). They say they can't send my case to the embassy without the i130 with USCIS annotations scanned.

So I have been in a blackhole for three weeks now - I am in contact with the supervisor taking care of my case, but she's been unresponsive for more than a week. We got so discouraged that we sent letters to congressmen yesterday. I am hoping it's going to help.

Honestly, when I compare my case with people who were sending documents at the same time to the NVC, I really regret sending things with EP. Even though their cases took longer to get CC, they are already been signed up for interviews, while I am in a blackhole and have no idea when my case is going to move. The supervisor said they need to find my case in the middle of a bucket of 5000 i-130s. It makes me want to :cry2:

My impression is that the NVC has a robust process for physical documents, while they are very disorganized with EPs. I know of a few Canadians who filed EP in the same situation as me... technical CC but no approval date and not being sent to the interview queue.

I hope you have better luck than me, though. Please let me know when your case moves :)
