Vancouver Consulate - Affidavit of Support

My fiance does not have a tax history to submit for the affidavit (just a letter from his boss and his pay stubs). However, he does (newishly) make well above the poverty guideline and works full time.

Because he does not have a long work history or prior tax returns ...I am assuming we will need a co-sponsor for the affidavit of support? But if someone can offer an opinion if we require one even though he's got a good paying job now that would be great.

Also, we have 2 options for co-sponsorship. One is more eager to do it than the other but does not quite make 125% of the guideline (although does have 80K of assets) and makes over the 100% minimum.

Does a joint sponsor need to meet 100% or 125% of the poverty guideline? I have read posts suggesting each option and would like to know if anyone knows for sure what is correct.

Thank you!

If your fiancée makes more then the poverty line there is no need for a joint sponsor, Current income is what matters most. Previous tax returns helps to prove steady income but it is not that important. If for some reason he does not have tax returns he can send in a statement stating why he did not have to file taxes. The only problem will be if he was suppose to file taxes and he did not. but that does not sound like the situation in your case. Also it doe not matter how long he has been working as long as his current income is good. I was only on my job for 5 months before I did the process my wife. I know K-1 and cr-1 visa are a little different but still I do not think you will need a joint sponsor

Thank you both so much for replying!

If he can sponsor me alone then that is great news and makes things so much easier.

I really appreciate your quick responses.
