Point being that we've had a history of a rather open immigration policy with Mexico. At least can everybody here accept that fact? Regardless of whatever changes to our immigration we need to make, it's important to keep that in mind.

So you are saying in 2007 that Mexicans have some sort of special right to illegally immigrate? I still don't get it. And I don't accept or agree with that position.

i guess steven won't change his position until jose can draw better than him.

I'm saying all this ranting about Mexicans immigrating here illegally and comparing the actions to that of a criminal (some have even refered to them as terrorists) is intellectually dishonest at best. You've got to know where we've been before you can say where we're going when it comes to immigration reform.

Short of annexing Mexico, the US needs a comprehensive and realistic approach to immigration from Mexico. We entered into NAFTA with Canada and Mexico 12 years ago, which essentially was to remove borders between the countries in terms of trade. Labor is a major factor when it comes to trade and labor (low wage) is what continues to immigrate into this country. Do you want to stop it? Should we stop it? How do we stop it? You can't address the labor issue without addressing trade...period.

I, too, am absolutely perplexed by the idea being propogated by some that there is a RIGHT that Mexicans have to come to the US illegally. Where does this rationale come from? Would those of you who are such bleeding hearts for these folks allow Native Americans to enter your home and property without permission because they were here first? Has it occured to you that the Mexican government is corrupt and despotic, therefore your empathy would be better served if you got off of your fat justifications for excusing criminality and hauled yourself down to Mexico to demand that the country these people come from serve them in the way you demand we serve them.

Seriously I wish no ill will on anyone, but I see more violence forming around this issue as more and more Americans feel powerless to influence their government re this and can no longer stomach the idiocy coming from the open borders crowd. Mexicans. already being exploited by business for their labor, will become targets. There's not much more room for this travesty being contained, even by the most rational among us. The anger has got to go somewhere and the entitlements to illegals to cheat, steal and lie will help pull the trigger.
