Exactly which forms for AOS?

I am getting ready to send the AOS/IV package but I am confused about exactly which forms I need to fill out.

I am currently living and working abroad so my dad will be the joint sponsor for my husband.

Is it possible for my dad to file I-864a as a household member and I file I-864? I am really confused about household members and joint sponsors.

Or should we both file I-864?

Would it be necessary for my mom to fill out I-864a?

Is it necessary for my dad to fill out assets if his income alone is more than enough?

Is it necessary for me to prove "proof of income" even though we are not using my income for support?

Thanks in advance for any help. I have talked to many people and I even had my dad call NVC but she wouldn't tell us much since they aren't allowed to tell us what to do...

If your dad's income alone meets the threshold for the applicable household size, then an I-864A will not be needed. Additionally, the assets section does not need to be completed if income alone is sufficient.

I'm just wondering if there is any reason why my dad would not be considered a household member. According to the travel.state.gov glossary it seems like he is the first point. Or, do we need to be currently living together for him to be considered a household member? We share the same permanent address and I will be living with him once the visa is approved and we move back to the U.S.

Household Member: A “household member” is an individual who is promising to make his or her income and/or assets available to the sponsor (signer of Form I-864) to help support the sponsored immigrant(s). Household members must complete Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member.

A household member can be one of the following individuals:

• A relative who has the same principal residence as the sponsor and is related to the sponsor as a spouse, adult child (must be at least 18 years of age), parent, or sibling;
• A relative or other person who the sponsor has lawfully claimed as a dependent on the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return even if that person does not live at the same residence as the sponsor; or
• The principal applicant, under either of the following circumstances:
  • If the principal applicant has the same principal residence as the sponsor and the intending immigrant can establish that his or her income will continue from the same source, even after acquisition of permanent residence.
  • If the principal applicant is the sponsor's spouse and can show that his or her income will continue from the same source after acquisition of permanent residence.

I-864A is for combining income, you have no income to combine with your dad.
