hello. here's my story. i got married on February. i applied for a greencard on March.. I didnt change my surname when i applied for my GC due to some personal reason. and now that i got my EAD, i am planning to go change my surname in my Social Security Number. my question is, is my application for GC will affect my changing of surname to my SSn and any legal papers?

Thank you and God bless..

Then you cannot use those IDs to change your name. You should have applied for them in your married name. You can either file to have it changed after receiving your green card, which will take months and cost hundreds more, or use the maiden name until it is time for ROC and then change it and file in married name for ROC to get your 10 year green card in married name.

If you have an interview, you can also ask the IO if they can issue the green card in your married name instead. Once other option might be to make an infopass appointment, take your marriage certificate and ask that they change your name in the system so your green card will come with the married name and not maiden. It is worth a shot.
