Hi guys,

I'm still waiting for the interview but would like to know my options regarding changing my last name.

I would have changed my last name after marrying my USC husband and before AOS, but my school at the time said it would be best to do so after getting my green card to avoid confusions among different systems, and the Chinese embassy said the same thing.

I recently checked online, some say do it after lifting the conditional green card status. Others say it would be easier to do it during naturalization. Can someone who had experience let me know when is the best time to change my last name? I would love to do so ASAP but also want to go through less trouble.

Thanks in advance!

Ask at the interview if you can have it changed then. I don't know why there would be confusion as long as the name on everything is the same. You just run around like stupid to all the places that have your name on file, like school, ss office, dl office, etc. with a copy of your marriage certificate and the old id and request they change your name.
