Just Filed My K1 And Realised I Might Get an RFE

I just filed my K-1 on Saturday (I Fedex'd it, I hope that was okay) but my question lies in the fact that when I was a fair bit older, my step-dad adopted me. I didn't think to get any forms stating that my name had been changed but I did submit both copies of my birth certificate which both have separate dates of approval (one from my actual year of birth and one from when my name change was approved). Is that sufficient or will we get an RFE?

This is my first time filing and I'm super nervous that I've messed up despite looking over the packet 18-20 times and making sure everything was signed over and over. I had 12 annotated photos, 9 pages of receipts including a colour copy of my POE for England (when I visited my fiance) and everything else the packet required. I guess I'm just kind of freaking out about the whole thing!

My fiancé was adopted by his father too, we sent in a copy of his actual birth certificate and then a copy of the amended birth certificate. He was adopted when he was 3 so the dates are different. However, it seemed to be sufficient for our petition as we received no RFE and are awaiting my interview now

We're a US/UK couple too.

Just to be precise, you filed the I-129F petition. The application for the K-1 visa comes at the consular stage.

The USC birth certificate in the petition is to establish proof of US citizenship for the petitioner. If you also sent in copies of your passport pages, you might not get an RFE. Did you also fill in the form where it asks if you were known by any other name?

I was in a similar situation (had my name changed when I was a boy) and I submitted copies of the court order indicating such. You might be able to get a copy of that court order, or perhaps a simple notification that your name has been changed, or the adoption papers themselves. Name changes are public record as well.

Surprisingly enough, one of the things they asked in the interview at the consulate to Jane was why I had my name changed!

In any event, I don't think you'll get an RFE

Should be sufficient. They just want to see documentation that proves the name change.
