Hi everyone!

Looking at the CFO site (http://www.cfo.gov.ph/), it says starting 8/17/15 there is a Reservation and Registration Online System for CFO-Manila only. Does that mean you can actually reserve a spot for your desired session and is no longer first come first serve? Can someone who has reserved and gone to the CFO after 8/17 confirm this?

Thanks in advance!

It's the Philippines....just cuz there's a reservation system, doesn't automatically mean they'll abide by it. That's why I'm asking for people who have used this new reservation system, have gone to the CFO during their selected session and have been able to successfully attend that session without any issues of it being filled up and having to come back later for a later session.

You haven't been able to walk in for more than a year....they only just added the registration process. The reservation process has been there since May of last year, they just added online registration.......which you used to have to do there in person at the time of appt.

Here's the thing, yeah! They don't accept walk-ins. Their system's like DFA now and you can choose whether you want to go in an AM or PM sesh. The days that aren't available are automatically blocked out as there's no slot left. in case you don't still have your visa sticked on to your passport when you go there for some instance, you could come back after receiving it and simply walk-in to get a CFO sticker. The guidance counselor will inform you of that anyway.

Correct but it's not new, it's like that since May last year....

Yes, and mab32 is just making clarifications in regards to that announcement from CFO that was made recently and became effective on August 17,2015. mab32's clearly not asking when that procedure started but how it works in the present. How you responded is relative to telling people how amazing it is to use the old building sized computers when now we are more interested on Macs. Hope that does make sense to you. :)

But nothing changed....literally everything you gave in your answer is true of May 2014. The only difference between then and now is you fill out forms online. The appt system part didn't change, and they were clearly interested in the "new" system as it pertains to walk-ins which I was just saying walk-ins haven't been allowed in more than a year....it's not new

Clearly they are interested in the walk in versus appt part....which hasn't changed with the date/changes they gave...haven't been allowed in over a year, still isn't allowed.

Your assumption "clearly they are interested in the walk-in part versus appt part" has no bearing at all since he mentioned nothing in relation to that but with rnab's statement you can have a wise guess that he may be scared to miss slots if in case there's some tech glitches on their website or maybe CFO don't 100% implement their online reg-reservation fully. A lot of things can happen under the table in our country and you'll understand better if you were raised in the Phils. Given an example is the process of getting an NBI clearance, they clearly stated online that walk-in's aren't allowed anymore requiring applicants to reg-reserve online but soon as you get in their office, you'll see how lovingly they accept both walk-in's and those who have reserved online fairly.

Clearly, welcome to the Philippine Republic :)

Really? What does this statement sound like to you? "Does that mean you can actually reserve a spot for your desired session and is no longer first come first serve?" ....sounds like walk in to me.

Point still stands nothing has changed in the last year....except now you fill out a little more information online. Had to reserve a spot last year and have to reserve a spot now.

And no nbi doesn't state walk-ins not allowed, they say it's DISCOURAGED....completely different. If you show me where if says not allowed I'll bite my tongue.

I'm far more aware how things work here than you think I am.

Sorry about all that. You have had to make an appointment for more than a year, no walk-ins have been accepted since May 2014 and yes if you reserve a spot you have that spot. The new update simply adds registering online to that, before you gave minimal information and filled out forms there, now you do all that online. The online reservation/appointment part that you are asking about though has been in implementation for over a year.

Oh no worries. All the CFO posts my fiancee and I kept reading made it seem like it was first come first serve and if she didn't get there early enough, the slots could get filled and she would have to come back for another session. So, she was already conceding to having to go there super early so that she would have a better chance to secure a spot. And so when we saw the new reservation system on the CFO website she got kind of excited with the possibility of being able to reserve a spot and not have to go there super early. We had no idea that the reservation/appointment system had been implemented for over a year now.

Yes that is what it means, but that has been the case with the spouse/fiancee for a year or two now, They just added the other CFO seminars to the system for reservations... IE what you are asking about... which doesn't pertain to you.

This is the page for spouses and fiancee, appointments are required for Manila & Cebu. http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2334:frequently-asked-questions-on-cfo-guidance-and-counseling-program&catid=110:frequently-asked-questions&Itemid=858

What you describe, arriving at the weeee hours of the morning, use to be the norm. If you were not there by 4:00 am then there was a good chance you were not getting a seat at the table that day. I think CFO, after years of doing it the same way, realized that it's not efficient nor is it safe for women and children to be on the streets at that hour.

Be careful when reading "old" history as things have changed.

But standing outside St Lukes at 3 am is still ok. I know. Baby steps baby steps lol
