K1 POE - which line for immigration clearance?

I know this gets asked here a lot, but the search feature appears to be offline or something! I swear I spent at LEAST 15 seconds looking for the answer to this question. So anyway.

My fiance is coming on his K1 through POE Chicago tomorrow (yay!). When he goes through passport control, can he go in the US citizens / greencard holders lines, or should he stick to the "everyone else" lines?

ETA: I mean, logically you'd think it's obvious he should go in the foreigners line, but I'm sure people on here have reported getting through in the citizens line and, well, I just kinda wondered. And stuff.

He goes in the everyone else line... unless the CBP person there tells you that you can go in the citizen line...

I would recommend the everyone else's line. Last year (went through Chicago under CR-1 ) I need to go to a room for processing - I remember seeing 1 person on K-1 and another one on other type of family immigration.

Depends on the POE. At San Francisco, for example, there's a small orange sign at the start of the US CITIZEN queue that says "new immigrants" with an arrow directing them to enter the US CITIZEN line and not the foreigner line. I'd have never noticed the sign if I weren't in the middle of this process. There's probably a sign at all POEs that direct you to the right place - and normally there's an agent or someone to hand out landing cards, etc, who can point you the right way.
