Yes you are correct, Since he is not in the U.S.A they probably did not file jointly. Maybe married filing separate. However you are right I should not have assume and included that information thanks for letting me know

I filed my tax return as single.. now I'm not sure if that's gonna be a problem?? do you know.. must I amend my return or leave it like that and just send in transcripts. I am self employed so no employment letter available. what else can I send in lieu of the employment letter? or is it that since I am sending in transcripts, I can skip the employment letter altogether?

An employment letter is not require. IT is just something that helps verify your income. I did not send one in only copies of my paycheck stub. It depends on when you got married as to the weather or not you should have file single. If you was single on the last day of 2014 and got married after the first of this year. then single is correct. and you will file married on next year tax return. If you were require to file as married then yes you should amend it. IT might not matter for immigration but For IRS purpose you should if you can wait until your wife is here so you will have her SS# to file married jointly. Without her SS# most likely you will have to file married separate.

I sent in my AOS for my wife in FEB 2015 at the time 2013 tax return was require. Me and my wife got married may 2014. My 2013 tax return show single. For the interview I sent my wife the 2014 tax return I file as married jointly but I file an extension. So My wife will have time to get SS#/.I am not to familiar with being self employed and doing the AOS. Here is a link for instructions for filling out the I-864 form that you will need to fill out.

Also when I sent in the new tax info alone with more proof of relationship for the interview. My wife told me that the interviewing officer did not look at any of it. but each country is different and some interviews are harder then others.
