Read through the consulate reviews at the top of this page right in the canada forum and you will have an idea .

I had my interview yesterday it was easy breezy :joy: . if you have all the paper work in order and all the originals they ask with you then you are good to go. The only hard part was the wait to be called to be interviewed that took 2.5 to 3 hours. For some of us the interview lasted 10 to 15 minutes and for some of us literally 2 minutes. And just arrive 15 minutes before you interview if you go early they will turn you away. Best of luck:)

Good luck to you! Montreal is now stricter with time, dont show up early like most of us did before, they now turn you away. Have tour papers ready and know in which order they are. Most of the people don't follow the order given on packet 4 when asking for documents.

Other than that, try to be relaxed. It is a stressful process but usually fairly easy unless you are not prepared

August 2011: Started talking to Brian
June 1st, 2012: Started dating (L)
July 29th 2012: Saw each other for the first time, met Family
August 2013: Got engaged
July 2014: Sent 1-129F petition
July 29th, 2014: Received NOA1.
February 5th, 2015: NOA2!
April 16th, 2015: Medical in Montréal
May 15th, 2015; Interview- APPROVED!
June 22nd, 2015: POE at Champlain Border

September 4th, 2015: Wedding! :dancing:

AOS/EAD/AP

February 20th, 2016: AOS/EAD/AP Package sent! (Received 2/25, yay for USPS delays!)

March 4th, 2016: NOA 1 for all 3 applications

March 11th, 2016: Hardcopies with all 3 receipt Numbers received

March 30th, 2016: Biometrics (as a code 2, Maybe have to go again?)

April 25th, 2016: Walk in for the SECOND Biometrics appoinment (Code 3 this time, Officer was not the happiest but told us to come back at noon and he'd let us in.)

May 16th, 2016: Submitted Service Request for I-765

June 8th, 2016: Called USCIS concerning delay, officer put another request in and said the previous one would like be ignored as it was created through their website.

June 21st, 2016: Contacted both NY Senators.

July 1st, 2016: RFIE for I-485.

July 8th, 2016; Sent Evidence Requested by USCIS. (Received July 13th)

July 15th, 2016; Emergency Advance Parole due to Family Emergency

July 27th, 2016; Contacted USCIS Ombudsman as my I-765 has been pending for 5 months.

July 30th,2016; EAD/AP have been approved!

Montreal is now stricter with time, dont show up early like most of us did before, they now turn you away.

I'm not so sure about this. My fiancé's interview was on Wednesday and we showed up at 6:50am. No one said anything to us about waiting.

They opened the doors right at 7:40am (we were first in line), got our ticket (#1!!), sat in the waiting room for about 15 minutes then went upstairs.

We were only sitting for about 5 minutes when they called him up to the window. He was at the window for about 5 minutes. Then another 10-15 minute wait until he was called for the interview. He was in the interview no more than 5 minutes... walked out with a huge grin and the "Welcome to the United States" letter. We were out of there by 8:30am.

Montreal has really picked up the pace... interview Wednesday and this morning we already got the DHL/Loomis confirmation email.

Also, I have read many reviews about the security there being "mean". It wasn't the case at all when we were there... everyone was really friendly.

03/16/2016 - Status changed for I-485 "Name was Updated" (received text & email 03/17/16 9:30am EST) (Never submitted a name change)

04/15/2016 - Called USCIS & Put in a Service Request online regarding "Name was Updated" status

04/15/2016 - Received email "On March 16, 2016 your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence was approved.We have reviewed our electronic records and found that your Permanent Resident Card (PRC) is already in production." (NO INTERVIEW)

05/05/2016 - Another online service request asking status of PRC

05/18/2016 - Received email saying file was in Sacramento, not Pittsburgh, and it was not approved yet. WHAT?!?!

05/20/2016 - Status changed online to "On May 16, 2016, we ordered your new card"

05/23/2016 - USCIS status change - "On 05/23/2016, we mailed your new card" (text & email)

05/24/2016 - USCIS status change - "On 05/24/2016, USPS picked up your new card" w/ tracking info (text & email)

05/26/2016 - Received card in mail

Ahhh.. yeah, that could be it. We were at 7:40am. I was assuming they were talking about lining up outside just for the 7:40 appointments. My bad :)

What time exactly did they open the door?

Also did you guys seen any kids? Are there kids toys in waiting area?

My son is 2 years old, and I am sure he won't be happy if he is not entertained while waiting..

Around 7:40-45. They have a security guard or two and a lady with a list of names coming out.

Do not bring any electronics with you. There is no place to leave them. I had my cell phone and had to run back to my hotel and leave it at the front desk.

Yes, there is a small place for kids. It's not huge thought, most likely a small table with coloring books or few tows. I saw it but didn't pay attention to it.

Moemac, My fiancé was able to leave his car key upon entering, they put it in a small case behind them and gave him a slip. I think if it's small enough they will keep it. BUT always better to not bring electronics.
