When to pay uscis?

My GC visa has been issued. While I wait for the passport to come to postoffice, I had this question on my mind: When to pay the uscis fee?

The reason for that question is to make sure that I get the green card in my hand as quick as possible when i reach the us territory.

Should it be as soon as possible or sometime closer to my departure day or how much time does it take the whole payment and card issuance process...

Please share your experirnces and ideas.

If you want no delay, it just has to be paid before you enter the U.S. It's an immediate online payment, so you can pay the day before you come and will still be fine!

Currently, it seems to take around a month after entry before you get your green card.
