Applicants birth certificate and copies submitted with the I 130 file when it was complete and sent to the USCIS. Now my case is at the NVC but, I do not have any copies of his birth certificate, and it is required for the DS 260 and the IV application what do I do now? Should I contact the NVC and request the original copy of the birth certificate? I have also read that the applicant will need the original birth certificate at the interview once it is scheduled.

I know that my case was sent to the NVC over a month ago but I have not been assigned a case number;I have been calling over the past week and still unable to speak with a rep.

So you sent original copies of Birth certificate of the Beneficiary with your I-130 to USCIS which was not required? Oh boy. You will not be getting that back so sorry.

And at NVC copies are all that's asked for. You will now have to start again. For your IV package you will have to send in copies of the Beneficiaries Birth certificate.

What originals you sent to USCIS is theirs

I don't have a copy of my husbands birth certificate.

So the NVC cannot give me an original I filed to the USCIS, even though my entire file is with them(NVC) now? I know there is a "request originals" service provided by the NVC.

It takes for ever to get back if you get back and its through USCIS. And usually you won;t get back while your process is active. You can try to ask NVC for it. But Like I said USCIS probably didn't forward it. If they did NVC wouldn't be requesting it.

Many people make this mistake and are surprised to find out that their originals are no were to be found in the package that USCIS didn't forward with the petition.. All you can do is ask NVC about it.

You would have to get a certified copy of the original to satisfy the requirement at NVC
