Good morning,

I apologize that this topic has been repeated in the forum but just want some peace of mind.

Born and raised in Toronto, I just received my passport back(family based visa)????. Dad lives in Jacksonville,Florida.

According to the visa exp. I have until the end of September 2015 to immigrate to the U.S.

Can I Immigrate to the U.S. without my belongings? Come back to Canada and bring my belongings over when I'm ready? Does the temporary 1 year stamp mean I have up to a year to move or until I get my official "green card" in the mail.

Best advice bringing my vehicle over?

I was hoping the consulate would give me until at least November so I can get everything settled. Feels like I'm In a race against time. Lol

Thank you for you input.

I know for sure that whatever make your vehcile is, you can contact customer service a request a letter stating that your vehile meets U.S. standards. They will need this when crossing over the boarder with your vehilce, at which time they will fill out paperwork for importing your vehicle.

You don't have to import vehicle right away. But since you will be driving from Toronto to Florida in one shot, you better import it while you are also immigrating. Just tell at the border that you like to immigrate, and also like to import your vehicle with you. They will do the paperwork for you. (assuming that your car is easily importable, specially if that particular trim of make and model of your car is also sold in US. Otherwise do some research on how to make your vehicle US complaint)
