Clarification re: process

I wanted to clarify if I understand the process correctly:

(1) I send my N-400 package to the Lockbox Facility

(2) Lockbox Facility cashes my check and forwards my file to NBC

(3) NBC schedules Biometrics

(4) After receiving Biometric data and completing FBI checks, NBC forwards file to Field Office (and sends me an e-mail saying I am "in line" for interview)

(5) Field Office sends notice to appear for interview, and

(6) Time taken between biometrics and interview appointments depends on how busy the Field Office is.

Does this sound right?

About right...

(a) sometimes step 4 doesn't work out quite right... interviews are sometimes scheduled before the file gets to the field office or even before background checks are done... not sure why. In these cases interviews are rescheduled (usually by mail but sometimes when the applicant shows up for the interview).

(b) the time between biometics and interview will also depend on how long the background check takes... this may have nothing to do with your field office... a common name, a criminal incident on your record, etc. could cause a delay before the field office knows anything about your case.
