extension of petition - issue

Hi there, wondering if someone can shed some light. I've gone through the petition process for the K1 Visa and received NOA2 with an expiration date of 8/8/2015. My fiance is currently in school and will finish at the end of the year. We originally submitted paper work assuming that the NOA2 would take a long time, but it came quick!

I've emailed the local consulate and asked for an extension and they told me that my finace must set up an interview appointment to request the extension.

Anybody know why the consulate may be requesting him to come in? EVERYTHING i've read says that the consulates auto renew for 4 month periods.

Help?

Dear Sir,

As mentioned in our previous emails, the applicant must attend an interview and explain to the interviewing officer the reasons for extension. The consular officer will instruct the applicant on how to proceed on the day of the interview in terms of extending the validity of the petition.

Best Wishes,

Immigrant Visa Unit (aab)

Consulate General of the United States in Jerusalem

seems an anomoly, where 'local practices' are different than the norm.

What is preventing the beneficiary from attending said appointment?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yes, I understood the original problem. I ask again, what's preventing the beneficiary from getting in to the interview that the IV Unit wrote about ?

But lets assume worst case scenario, for the moment, and it's this:

Your email was reviewed by 'local workers', and responded to by 'local workers', not any Vice-Consul attached to the IV Unit. To overcome this level of stupidity, please send off yet another email, asking specifically for USCitizen Vice-Consul Review and Response.

i'll try that. thanks,

still getting so many mixed messages..

the call center told me that there are no interview appointments available for the next few months (Which would also be an issue)

the email support is telling me that i need to pay an interview fee in order to go to this interview to request an extension.
