Proof of Relationship since Engagement

Hey guys!

My interview is on Thursday in Montreal (eek!) and I'm just working on the finishing touches of getting everything together, but one thing I'm concerned with is the whole "Proof of ongoing relationship since engagement"

I haven't seen him since January because we didn't wanna risk losing flight money or anything being denied at the border, and with his job he is on call most of the time and gets very minimal time off so we decided to bite the bullet until we can be together permanently...so that scratches any flight itineraries or photos of us together I could have used as proof, unless they want the ones I already had sent them when we first petitioned.

I know there is Skype and Facebook Messages I could use as proof, but I literally would need 300 pieces of paper since we talk on messenger all day, every day and we skype every single night for the most part.

So what I did do, is I just took a couple screenshots of stuff I have posted on his facebook wall for his birthday, and when we got engaged. And also I am including a card he sent me for our anniversary. I guess what I'm really asking is, is that enough? I just wanna make sure I'm okay.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

It's enough, they aren't that strenuous in Canada. I know it's a different consulate, but they didn't even look at our evidence at all. They aren't expecting you to keep an ongoing physical relationship as it's cost prohibitive as well as the reasons you mentioned such as being turned away at the border.

That's a relief, thank you for clarifying!

Let me know how your interview goes!!! Mine is next Tuesday and I've started to compile some things as well! I figured Montreal is a very low fraud consulate so I probably don't need to front load as much!

Not sure if you ever send emails but we just picked selective ones to print and include since we sent them almost every day. So a sample email or two from each month in the process. It wasn't too hard to put it all together. When we had our interview, the interviewer actually asked my husband (who was there for me) about something we had mentioned in one of the emails (he was curious about it - pretty sure it was just personal curiousity and not 'verifying info') so they definitely read them all!

We had cards (or rather envelopes) with post office stamps etc. Receipts from when we had visited one another where we used our credit cards in the opposite person's country and plane ticket/ travel receipts. Not once did I feel the need to print off my personal conversations from chat logs and its not really necessary for the Canadian interviews. Some people are obsessive about the amount they include but then there are different standards for other countries and for higher fraud countries so I can understand.

For the record , we weren't asked about any of our relationship evidence during our K1 interview at all.

I was never asked for any kind of relationship proof, just some simple questions. You'll be fine. I just had some scanned letters/cards for the 7 month gap we had between our last visit and my interview, mainly to make myself feel prepared haha.
