I called the NVC (603-334-0700) spoke with an operator - they said they had nothing on file for our case #....We have been assigned a case # months back MTLXXXXXXXX - is this normal that they wouldn't have any reference of our case #?

Has anyone else seen this? Any thoughts on where else to check?

Darryl - because you filed DCF, your case was never at the NVC, so it makes sense that they have no record of it. I guess you could try calling USCIS since I believe that's where DCF petitions were sent back to. Good luck!

Do you know for sure if Montreal packed up the petitions and mailed them off? They are kind of slow...

Well - It's confirmed... March 20 @ 8:30 am I have an interview.

I have my medical appt tomorrow, everything is coming together.. :) BTW, I'm going to London for my medical.. the lady on the phone was sooooooooo nice :)

Anyone know what's included in that Packet 4 from the Embassy? What do I need to bring with me to the interview... I know all these questions have been asked like 1000 times on VJ... I'm just so excited, I can't contain myself :)

Packet 4 as I recall, states what time ur interview is at, the list of approved Doctors (some dr's require this at the medical--well the letter stating you need the medical), and vaccinations and how many pictures you require and what is required document wise for the interview, which as a cr-1 you have most likely already sent in. As well it states not to bring in any electronics into the consulate.

Did your Dr mention how many pictures he requires for the medical? He will have the necessary paperwork at the office. Most Dr.'s only accept cash, so best to ask what payment he takes.

For most Cdns, thanks to VJ, the interview is usually the easiest part of the process. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Some Dr's do require the letter from packet 4 stating you need the medical, some do not. I'm sure if you sweet talk them, they would let you go with out. Ensure you askthem what they require (pictures, etc) And they would probably need to know your case #. Cheers

I called the Dr's office in London, Ontario and as advised by the receiptionist (who was extremely nice). All I needed to bring with me is anything from the NVC showing my case number on it, my passport, my proof of any shots I've had & 2 passport photo's. The Dr's office in London, Ontario only accepts cash or money order. $225.00 and she said they would mail the results to me within 2 days. If I want the results fed-ex'd to me, then it's an additional $20.00.

I'll post an update tomorrow once I get back.

Oh ya.... the receptionist also referred me to this VJ website to get more information if I wanted it. :) Wasn't that nice of her .. LOL
