EAD Renewal - Getting close to expiring...what do I do?

My husband filed his EAD renewal papers, and has a NOA1 date of 3/31/15. His green card paperwork is taking forever (going on 14 months now), that's why we are having to do the renewal. He went for biometrics for the EAD mid to late April. His EAD card card expires July 7, 2015 and here we are, getting so close to expiring and have heard nothing. We've called the # on the NOA1 and they are not helpful, they just read a standard blah blah blah, if we want we can file an inquiry which takes 30 days to get an answer. If we don't get it by July 7, 2014 I know he has to stop working right? But what do we do in the meantime, log an inquiry and wait 30 days? By that time his card will be expired. We filed 90 days prior to it expiring like they said to do. This is so frustrating...The first EAD card we got in 45 days.

We filed a ticket and they said it would be 30 days until we heard something. We called back 2 days later and asked to speak to an immigration officer, he filed an expedited ticket. Magically the next day it was approved. It took 88 days!
