How long does the Green Card take?

Hi Everyone,

My Wife and Stepdaughter arrived from Colombia on May 27, in Chicago, on the IR-1 and IR-2 visas and I was just wondering how long the physical GC takes to arrive, but more importantly... does it arrive automatically without having to do anything else?

Secondly, my SD indicated "Yes" on the DS-260 last summer where they asked if she would like a Social Security card produced for her, and is this also done automatically once they arrived and are admitted?

Once you have paid the IV fee and entered the USA on an IR visa, it'll automatically trigger GC production. It usually takes 1 - 3 months to show up. The stamp visa acts as a temporary I-155 for 1 year until the physical card shows up though.

Have you paid the IV fee and if so, what does your ELIS status say?

We did automatic SSN upon arival as well. My wife arrived 4/23/2015. Got her SSN 1 week after arrival. Got her GC yesterday 6/4 2015

Hi and Thanks everyone.

On the ELIS site we are listed as "accepted" --- "optimized"--- and "In process".

The pdf snapshots of their vital info is correct as well.

I paid the two green card fees on May 5.

Does that sound in order?
