Hi all,

So I'm at work killing time and 100% can't find this answer........ At what point to they assign an ARN and under what circumstances?

Recieved a random email with it and was curious why we have one at this point and if it means someone is touching our file....

boredom.......

11/15/2013- Met John

10/27/2014- Proposed

11/26/2014- Sent I-129F

11/28/2014- Package Received

12/03/2014- Electronic Notification

12/09/2014- Received NOA1 in mail (Notice Date 12/02/2014)

*System still says last touched date 12/03 :(

Sometimes they assign the ARN as soon as the petition is received, sometimes when they touch the file and sometimes when it's actually being processed. It's unpredictable that way, but I'd be optimistic given your timeline so far that it means they're likely looking into your case.

* I-130/CR-1 visa by Direct Consular Filing in London
3rd May 2013 - Married in London

7th May 2013 - I-130 filed
4th June 2013 - NOA2 (approved)
16th July 2013 - Interview (approved)
30th July 2013 - POE San Francisco
29th August 2013 - 2 year green card arrived

* How? Read my DCF London I-130 for CR1/IR1 Spouse Guide

* Removal of Conditions (RoC) via California Service Centre
1st May 2015 - 90 day RoC window opened
6th May 2015 - I-751 filed (delivered 8th May, cheque cashed 18th May)
7th August 2015 - Approved / GC production

27th August 2015 - 10 year green card arrived

* Naturalisation (Citizenship) via Phoenix Lockbox

* San Francisco Field Office:
1st May 2016 - N-400 window opened
20th August 2016 - N-400 filed

26th August 2016 - NOA1
13th September 2016 - Biometrics

12th January 2017 - Biometrics (again)
30th May 2017 - Interview (approved)
7th June 2017 - Oath

The spot on my NOA 1 was blank, The NOA 2 does not have a spot for it. Neither the letters from NVC or from the embassy mentioned it. I guess I will find out my fiancees when she gets her visa. I haven't needed it yet, so ehh.

Might it be different for you than those of us who are k1? We are at the interview stage (june 18) and haven't received one.

K-1 applicant. I129F approval I-797C Notice of Action on the NOA2 The ARN is listed in the beneficiary box above the beneficiary name. Starts with A. The number is usually assigned at NOA1 , but you do not get it until it comes through on the NOA2 , or once the NVC has the case you can call them and get it from them. It should be put on the DS160 application when sent.

Guess it is there. Thanks for that, I looked for a box like on the NOA 1. Sorry for the confusion guys. I'm not sure where on the DS-160 we filled that out awhile back and don't remember using it. I could be misremembering.

I hate misinforming people, so sorry again....
