Succesful walk in after missing Biometrics appointment

Hi all,

I wanted to share with you all that I was able to walk in and have my biometrics taken after I missed my biometrics appointment last week (long story!). After missing the appointment I called USCIS who told me send back the appointment notice and ask them to reschedule. I did that. Then, this week I called USCIS again to ask about something else, and also asked if asking for a rescheduling of the biometrics appointment was going to delay my case. She said "Oh yea, oh yea, by 30-60 days" (as if she was happily confirming something for me!!). I am going crazy about this waiting time, so I went out to the USCIS office with the copy of my appointment notice showing a different city and a passed date - and they let me in and took my biometrics right there and then! Lesson learned: take matters into your own hands and don't always trust the ladies on the phone (when I asked, she told me there was a 99% chance they wouldn't even let me in the door if I showed up with a copy with a passed appointment in a different city).

I missed my appointment too (realized it the next morning, I thought my appointment was on Friday when it was on Thursday). I panicked, I thought I'd get into big trouble but I really didn't have time to mail the paper back in and request another appointment (and wait additional weeks) so I'd thought I've got nothing to lose, I just walked in (didn't say a word to any of the officials) and guess what, no one even cares to look at my actual date, they processed me without any problem. There are so many people waiting there all the time, they really don't care for these details in my opinion. I'm so glad I gave it a try!!!!
