Petitioner at interview

BKK interview instructions say that petitioner is not permitted to be present at the interview. Do they mean "not present" as in "can't come talk to the officer" or "can't enter consulate"?

I was planning to come over but if I can't even be in the building at that time - it probably doesn't make much sense.

A U.S. citizen has every right to go into a U.S. consolate....they usually won't let in unless you state the reason or have some kind of appt. scheduled though (except for emergencies). You won't be allowed where ever the interviewee goes within the embassy. Manila will let you in the door but not into the interview.

Also if asked when did you last see your fiancé being able to answer "oh he's outside" always a plus!

I went for the moral support. Went with her to the consulate and stood outside. Was nerve wracking because they changed her appointment date at the last minute so they didn't interview her until the afternoon. Approved, we celebrated, went home and waited for the visa and then flew home together. Very glad I went, wouldn't haven't done it differently.

Very very true. The CO seemed impressed that I flew over just for the interview.
