This has been a hit or miss topic with USEM. Some CO's are asking for it and others are not. It is important that you pass your interview and I would recommend that you prepare these documents in the event that the CO ask for them. Better to be safe then sorry then receiving a 221(g) for missing documents.

The Embassy letter states:

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014) Page 3 of 9

with original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134.

yeah, that's what i am afraid of. i was reading the same instructions earlier too and saw that. F asked for a certificate from his work but they couldn't provide him with anything... *sigh* was hoping we won't need it if we provide a lot of pay stubs...

Some companies don't or won't give Certificate of Employment

I did my own Cert. of Employment a few years ago.

I really don't think it's that big of deal now of days if you don't have it, If it is asked for, just tell them " His/Her company does not issue Cert. of Employment"

Hi! I submitted my fiance (now husband's) certificate of employment during my interview. The Filipino CO didnt ask for it specifically, but she asked what else do i have with me, i told her w2, pay stubs, cert of emplyment, other stuff. She said, okay, lets put all you got in your file since i brought them with me anyway, but she didnt ask for it specifically. But i think its better to be prepared. Both the CO who interviewed me were really really nice, but you'll never know so just be prepared. Good luck

Keep in mind that if the CO doesn't ask for something don't volunteer the information. Loose lips sinks ships!

Stick to the questions and provide to the point honest answers.

Follow the embassy instructions letter for what is required... always. What is requires is your most recent tax return and W-2... that's it. Pay stubs, employment letter, bank statements... not required.

(Exception in my book would be a new employee)

i'll discuss this with F tonight as i don't want to forget any documents and stress about it when the interview is near
