Greetings and salutations.

I think I have the answer to my question from reading the archives but I just want to make sure.

Date of expiration on GC is 9/27/15, according to USCIS calculator I can file to remove conditions on 6/29/2015 (do you concur?). Mother is here on a visitors visa and I would like to personally take her back home so I can use the opportunities to take care of some incidentals over there. Her visa expires on 9/15/2015 so she must leave the USA at least a week before then (my own personal schedule).

If I mail the RC package on 6/30/2015, what says yee about timelines? Do you think I can get the renewal done before September? I know that they will issue a one year extension but what if I'm out of country when appointments are set? I read the BIOMetrics appointments happens pretty fast (so maybe July or early August?) but the kicker is what if they call for an interview while I am out of country?

Oh yes the answer I gave myself was to stay put till this is all done and instead send Mother off with good wishes.

Mail the package on June 30th. YOu will get your one year extension in a month or so as a max. Once you get your extension, go by your local USCIS office and get an I 551 stamp in your passport.

Apply as soon as your window opens. You may receive your biometrics appointment quickly and you can just take care of that and cross it off the list. You can travel with your one-year extension letter. Do you have someone who can check your mail while you're away in case an appointment letter is received?

Thanks for the responses.

I have another question.

Whats typically the timeframe given for an appointment once you receive the interview letter?

So say the letter arrived the same day that I left the country with my extension on a two weeks vacation, will I typically have enough time before the interview?

I-751 interview takes forever to reschedule so don't worry much. Usually it is a month after interview letter.

Also unless you get an RFE and they're still not satisfied with those results, you may not get an interview at all.

Oh cool beans, I didn't know that they "could" waive these interviews too.

I will give them very good data and hope for the best then.

Thanks.

PS: That's an impressive machine in your avatar.

Mailed off the package the day after fourth of July and received the NOA yesterday I think and dated the July 7th.

Pretty much gave them everything prudent, I will admit though that some did not span the whole 2 years, well except for the baby who is now 1 year old plus the 9 months of being pregnant

I filed the profile magicthingie and it shows that they're still processing January so we will hunker down.

Thanks.

I would really like to get this stamp on the passport since we're traveling and I don't trust the fellas at Lagos airport to recognize the letter.

Do I need an appointment and is it called infopass appointment?

It's best to make an infopass appointment.

Your biometrics will likely happen in about 4-6 weeks from when you mail the I-751.

An actual interview would almost surely not happen for at least 6 months. In my case, when it was scheduled they gave 6 weeks notice. An interview can also be rescheduled. When my wife's interview was scheduled, I told USCIS that my mother was dying and they were prepared to reschedule it. (As it happened, I decided not to go to the interview so there was no need to reschedule it, and my mother didn't die until the following week anyway.)

Thanks for the info. I will make an info pass.

Condolences on your Mums passing.
