Hey folks. I received my NOA2 last week (K1 Visa). So far I don't have a case#, but my petition has been sent to the NVC. When can I or should I complete the DS-160? I already logged into the page and filled out everything for my fiance. The only thing left is for her to press send. I've heard conflicting information. Some say you need a case number, others say you have to wait until your case reaches the embassy. Which is it? I haven't got one straight answer. On the DS-160 I didn't even see a place where a case# could be input, only the SRC. Am I overthinking this?

Muchas gracias!

They say they want you to wait until you receive the letter from them that your case is at the consulate and ready for processing. You can fill out the DS-160 before getting the consulate letter, but you might want to wait until the NVC tells you it has been sent to them, so you know your case file is there already.

Hi everyone.

we finally got our NOA2 after about a year of waiting. The NVC said our case was forwarded on Feb 17, and we have our case numbers, etc. so we are starting the DS-160 now. We have a question regarding the ID number for Mexicans. On the Federal ID card (voter card) there are 2 numbers-a CLAVE and CURP. Which one is the one they want? Website does not say and a call to CDJ did not go through.

Thanks everyone
