Visa Packet Recieved - plastic packaging?

May's visa packet was delivered on 7 April -

(NOT bad, USEmb apt 25 March, Visa processed/approved 31 Mar, and USEmb CLOSED the four-day weekend of Easter/2,3,4-5 April - YUP, we are REAL happy with that!)

Her CFO is scheduled for the morning of Friday/10 April and she is prepared for that.

Her MANILA Visa packet arrived in perfect condition - the plastic it was wrapped in was a little "ruffled" but intact.

Then she had to "cut" the plastic edge to get access to remove her passport on one side.

On the other side, was a "cover" letter Immigration Visa Branch of the Embassy with all the instructions and warnings - she had to CUT the plastic around that letter to get to the CFO Paperwork underneath
(AGAIN - no damage to the MANILA Visa packet)

I would ASSUME (Danger! Danger!) that these small cuts in the protective plastic cover are ok - BUT........... (please insert responses here lol)?

So now that she's retrieved her passport and the CFO/GC paper "flow-chart" from the plastic cover, should she just leave it "cut" or tape it or wrap it in saran wrap - or what?
Like I posted - the YELLOW VISA PACKET IS UNDAMAGED - I'd like to KEEP it that way!
Thanks!

Hi Toforo, good job for your fiance :) I am also very careful that time I got mine and after I got my passport inside I taped it at all corners and placed it in another plastic envelope and hide it inside my cabinet. When I arrived at POE in Seattle, the Immigration Officer just opened it up right away without questions lol. Got so relieved that time :)

Protect it however you feel is best.

Little cuts will not be a problem.

Obviously big openings where you could tamper with the information inside is where lies the problem.

As long as that is not possible it'll be fine.

I wrapped mine in a plastic bag and just left it at the bottom of my carry on.

It got completely crumpled and squished but no rips!

They just took it and opened it and then gave it to secondary where I waited.

We wrapped the plastic bag tight around the DO NOT OPEN envelope then tapped it, we didn't want it tearing at all... Then at POE we stand there watching the agent rip the envelope open like it was Christmas morning! :)

You are doing good!

Thanks All!

Yes, we WILL tape the plastic outer-cover back closed AND re-wrap that rascal in plastic, wrap 2 or 3 meters of tape around THAT - and then put it in a plastic carry bag.

I mean seriously - if it's worth doing RIGHT, it's worth OVER-doing it right!
