Hi all,

I'm new here and this is my thoughts and situation. I married a Canadian 7 years ago and immigrated to Vancouver Canada (I am a U.S. citizen and still hold that status) I'm just a perm resident in Canada. We plan to retire in the U.S., In about 10 years, I have heard that it takes 10 years to get everything final and that you need at least 100 thousand dollars in order to do this??!! is this true? and if not, where do I start, what forms.

I know this is alot of questions, I'm sorry, but everything I read online is confusing. The immigration from U.S. to Canada was simple.

Any help would be greatly appreicated

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The immigration from anywhere to the US is not so simple.

No, it should not take 10 years for your spouse to immigrate to the US, unless there is something very specific to your case that causes delays.

I don't know where you got all that. A spouse visa, right now for someone in your case, would take about a year to do. You'd be meeting the conditions of the I-864 (no where near the money you said, unless you have like a million children).

But, having said that, who knows what state immigration will be in in 10 years. It could be easier, it could be harder. Either way, it would be wise for you to look into the process a couple of years before you want to move and keep an eye on immigration news.
