Other than using the original commercial format I don't see the skit equating US military service with joining ISIS. Very funny skit in my opinion.

There is plenty of room in the world for spoofs, but this one left me uneasy. The acting was well done, and it's clear there was some sort of message about the original commercial message. But, what is the spoof? There were just enough missing parts to make it uncomfortable.

What is the message? I got a mix of a few things:

1. American girls are leaving their families to join ISIS!

2. But, American families are willing to accept it

3. A message of disrespect to women who are in the American military. Yeah, it's not always a guy like the original.

But, all of these were strange as the writer's message did not get specific.

Could be that SNL has just been sucking for the last decade or more? All the good writers have left.

That occurred to me, but also, SNL has always been pretty liberally slanted so it wouldn't be too surprising to see an anti-women in the military skit, or maybe like you say, suckASS writing.

I can't say I was a great fan of Conan O'Brien's late night (NBC or TBS). But as a writer for SNL and the Simpsons, he was brilliant.
