Can anyone comment on the is question? what is the difference between the 2? what benefits exist in 1 over the other. is it a question of processing time, filing fees, or simply preference in one's case.

K3 is like the K1 where you have to adjust status and apply for work permit, therefore more costly. Read the links previous posters provided for you. The K3 is virtually dead, very few are issued nowadays. The wait times are not that different anymore either. The best bang for our buck was the CR1. When I cross the border I will be eligible to work, drive, pretty much anything except vote. You can try for a K3, but in the long run, for the time you will have to wait, the CR1 is the better option. JMHO :)

In addition to the info on the link posted earlier, I spoke to more than one lawyer.. each advised CR1.. less overall hassle and less total costs till GC. Moreover, as others have said, K3 at present is, for all intense and purposes, pretty much obsolete.
