Hello, I sent my package with ALL the documents you are supposed to send for the I-485, I got my fingerprints taken last week and today I got a RFE asking for a copy of my marriage certificate for me (the applicant) AND the USA citizen. In Ohio they issue a document called CERTIFIED ABSTRACT OF MARRIAGE and at the bottom of the document there's a MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE section. I sent 3 certified copies of that document and guess they probably overlooked the marriage certificate section. My question is: 1) should I send 2 copies of this document? 2) should I highlight the MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE section so they don't skip it this time?

The same thing happened to me... and I was PISSED! I knew for a fact that I had sent my certified marriage certificate with the first packet. I sent the requested evidence and called them out on the fact that they may have lost it .. their response was "we will take note of this for your case".

If that is what you receive the county court's office after your marriage is registered, then that is the correct document. Does it have a stamp/seal and signature on it from the court/clerk? You can always walk into your local county court and purchase another certified copy of your marriage certificate. I do not think they cost much in Ohio.

They are asking for proof of marriage between you and the USC, not a separate marriage certificate for each. If that is how they look in Ohio, then yes, send another copy and a statement that the marriage certificate, signed/stamped/sealed is located at the bottom of the document.
