Filing out the DS-26-

Gee, the I-130 was almost a piece of cake compared to the DS-260. I have a few a few questions I sure would appreciate some help on:

1) I have had one speeding ticket in my life, it was paid right away and no problems. Do I need to report this?

2) When it asks if you have ever been to the USA and asks what type of visa, does that also include passport? I don't have a visa yet, but have a Canadian passport which allowed me to enter the USA.

3) This one is the "slayer". Question #30, asking to list all the places one has lived for 6 months or longer since 16 years of age. I am 56 years old and have lived at 8 different addresses for crying out loud!! I have all the addresses, and, I can piece together the years, but really, the date and month!!?? I have no idea. Seriously, the date and month. OY!! There is no possible way for me to retrieve this information. What's a person to do??

1. To be honest I'm not sure. If it's a matter of writing that sentence right there, I'd go ahead and include it as it won't hurt anything. But I'm not sure if that would be required.

2. Yes, we looked directly in my husband's passport and on both his entry stamps, "B2" was written. When we selected that in the DS-260 it showed up as tourism/medical treatment I believe (which tourism was correct).

3. It does seem a little silly doesn't it? We gave our best guess when it came to exact months when we weren't sure. If you know the year I think that's the more important part.

Take a really good guess at it. I had the same problem with addresses. I have bounced around from Province to Province with work. Write them all on a piece of paper, sit with a coffee, and let your mind wander back. It will come back to you. You can't fill out that DS-260 with stress, so relax.

Two Chickies, thanks for Visa info, I went back and looked at my old passport and yep, there written in it was a B2. Funny thing though, last time I travelled they didn't stamp my passport. Why is that? Are they only scanning them now and no longer stamping them?

Bob and Bonnie, I wish coffee would do the trick but, i'll give it a try. I did realize that most of the days I lived in apartments would be either the 30th or the 31st as those are the dates one has to be out of the apartment, so, it will just be remembering the months.

That is strange indeed. I'm not sure, that hasn't happened to me. Although every time I cross the border or my husband does, it's always different. This last time I entered Canada, the officer didn't say a single thing to me, I said hello, I think he may have said hi or nodded, stamped my passport, and handed it back. I thought I was headed to secondary, but nope! Very strange.
