sorry guys...took so long to answer....we got blue..just need a few more bulls*** things they are requesting. They didn't even bother to look at any of our evidence and yet they still ask for more. I am about to head back to HCMC from Hue to submit the rest of the things they need.

hi everyone, i finally got back to the states....needless to say..this trip has been an adventure. First, my flight from SFO to Taipei was delayed to the next morning then after I got to Taipei i had to stay there over night for the next flight out to Saigon. I only had barely 3 weeks of vacation and I spent most of it traveling. Afer the interview I had to take a Tour bus from Saigon to Hue to visit family and friends back home. That took about 2 days of traveling. But at least I go to spend some quality time with my fiance. Oh and now on to the interview. They only ask her a few questions like how many people attended the engagement party and how did we met. They were more interested in whether she had relatives in the States. She answered "yes" and that was the end of it. So now they wanted proof that her Aunt and I never met or contacted each other before the engagement. Proof of her residency, etc..etc.. They also wanted proof that I purchased the plane tickets myself. Well...it took about a week to gather everything in Vietnam and so I took the train back to Saigon with her to submit them. I went in the consulate and waited for almost 4 hours before her name was called. We got a green form stating nothing further is needed from us and the lady told me to go home and wait for their response and to contact them if we don't here from them in about a few weeks. So, now I am getting nervous. I submitted everything so what is the hold up now?

oh yeah..by the way...sorry it took so long to post anything but in VN...all the computers I used will not let my post anything. It would just kick me off the website and I had to restart internet explorer again.

Your green letter DOES NOT say they intent to return petition with the recommendation that it be revoked as our green letter said in 2005. "That's Good" They need more time to review all the information. No matter how long they need hang in there!

Thanks, that helped somewhat. I just hope I don't have to wait so long. I think it's so sad that they barely looked through any of our pictures or letters and now they held everything that we submitted to them. My fiance is so depress because she doesn't have all the letters I wrote to her and all of our engagement pictures. I beleive their biggest concern is that we "could" be related somehow. This is a bunch of #######...her Aunt doesn't even share the same last name of anyone in my house and the intimate pictures we submitted to them should be enough for them to see that we are not related and not trying to pull a fast one on them. In the same token I can see why they would suspect fraud. There are so many fraud cases in Vietnam that it's hard for them to determine which is legit. Usually fraud cases have even more evidence than real ones. Any how, i'm off to call my fiance/wife to console her, she is still crying almost everyday.

Thanks for letting us know. I would speculate that many VN fiances have at least one relative in the US - somewhere - whether they are in contact or not. I wonder if there is something else that causes them to concern - they may not be wondering if you are related, but if you are simply are an agent for someone else. Best wishes for a speedy resolution !

Yes, you are right, they want to show proof that I was never in contact with her and that I paid for my plane tickets to VN. They want to show proof that I wasn't paid by her Aunt to get her here. They wanted her last 5 years of residency and proof of her citizen status which I provided. I gave them my credit card statements showing that I purchased my planed tickets including my younger sisters plane tickets when I first went back to meet her. I also gave them proof of my purchase the second time with a copy of the check i used to purchase. Man, it's a good thing I didn't pay cash or else it would be hard to show. They also went 3 bank statements before the purchase and 3 bank statements after the purchase, which I also provided.

Anyone know how long the wait usually is for them to review cases? thanks

Hi Tway, I'm sorry to hear you are on AR. And I really don't want to be a realist...I've always considered myself a romantic idealist....that is, until I was flattened by a ton of red tape

While it seems the reasons stated on your blue slip are different than mine, the green paper looks pretty familiar. I thought it might be a few days before my sweetheart got the phone call from the embassy, but every day I'd call the info line, I was told everything from a 'no idea' to 'over a year' and to call back in a few months. At first I was incredulous, and continued calling on a regular basis, but as the weeks became months...here we are :crying: It's been close to 7 months for me, and we are still waiting. The good news is that it could come sooner, and as we've seen on VJ, it has for others. The best advice I can give you (from someone in your situation) is to be pro-active and do whatever you can to assist the embassy in coming to a decision. I can't say it's worked for me so far, but I have seen many others get their visa soon after by following this route. This embassy is one of the worlds busiest and it takes a lot of time to return to all the cases they have green slipped. There are many, many valuable assets on VJ in not only answering your questions, but in understanding the process. Check out the timeliness, and the list Vietnam maintains...it will give you a good idea as to what to expect. And Tway, ANYTIME you feel the anxiety, loneliness, anger, frustration, sadness, or just plain overwhelmed by the process, know that you are not alone! At least for me, I have found VJ to be like a cyber-support group for those really difficult days. I wish you nothing but the best of luck and wish the embassy to make a speedy decision in your case!!

Well, I want to be optimistic and think/hope that they will review my case soon. I'm hearing anywhere from 1 month to 6 months. I hope it's just a month. What gives? I already provided them with everything they want and they did review it. I wish they would tell us what else they are reviewing or looking into. I used Robert Mullins office to do my i129 and they are doing their best to help me, but i also find this forum very useful. Spoke with Le Minh Hai at Robert Mullins office and he tells me not to worry, they will do everything in their power to help me. Also tells me, i should see results very soon, if not he will do something about it. But I still go in this forum to get a second opinion. Thanks all. Hope this gets resolved soon, because I can't bear to hear my fiance cry over the phone everytime we talk.

I was introduced to my Fianncee through her Aunt whom I work with in the states. Reading what happened to you tway22 makes me understand why we received the green slip. They didn't care about the relationship we have now. They ignored the evidence. The consulate requested I supply I sworn statement of how we met and when/where I proposed. I sent them a timeline of how we met through her aunt and that her aunt and I traveled back to Vietnam to meet my her. That must have been the clincher for them in my case.

Good luck to you!
