Hi. I'm 25, Filipina currently working in Dubai for three years now as a sales representative. I want to visit my boyfriend in US for just one month.

I have applied for visit visa already but haven't scheduled for interview yet. I've been reading a lot of same topics on this site that it's red flag for 20-ish women who want to go visit boyfriend in US.

I have documents to support that I'm coming back here in UAE. My boyfriend is going to provide a letter too stating that I'll be staying in there house and we'll do some sigh-seeing only. But the thing is the money to show to the CO. I don't have that much. Though my boyfriend is going to support too financially when I get there.

My questions are;

1.How much is the minimum money to show to the CO on the interview?

2.I have a relative in the US who is my grandmother too. Would it be better if I re-apply and put her information instead of my boyfriend's?

Please help. Thank you!

GentleGrace you doesn't need to show money in applying for B2 Visa. Just your documents proving that you are going back to Dubai. I applied for my B2 Visa also when I was working in Canada. That was 2008. I only showed to the IO my passport, Canadian working permit/cert., and work contract. The questions that were asked: Purpose of visit and how many days staying in US. I was interviewed 3/15 and I received my Visa on 3/18. And was given 2-year multiple entry. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Boyfriend's info is a BIG NO in my own opinion.

Thank you IloveDahlias! I'm really still confused. I cant lie to the officer about my boyfriend. My grandmom is really old. I havent seen her for like a decade. So I doubt if she could help me financially since I dont have sufficient funds.

I will suggest listen to iloveDahlias, telling the IO about your bf can deny you for B2..even if you will show all the proof that you will going back in UAE,i did my k1 interview in abu dhabi..my cousin went there also for the b2,goodluck,hope everything will go smoothly for you.

First off, you don't need money to get a tourist visa. However, the CO may ask you how you will fund your trip.

Second, don't lie. If you have a grandmother you haven't met in 10 years, what will certainly follow would be questions as to why you are visiting her after so long, or when you last contacted her. Also, by telling the CO you will be visiting granny and then spend time with your boyfriend the entire trip, you run the risk of being caught in a lie.

The alternate course of action is to be truthful about your boyfriend, but know that this route will almost certainly end in your denial, but it's not always the case if you get a "nice" CO. Odds of a young, unmarried Filipina being denied are 99.99%, but there is always that 0.01% of Divine Intervention going for you.

In my opinion, the best course of action would be for your boyfriend to meet you. In doing so it accomplishes a few things:

1. You don't have to go through the hassle of getting a visa.

2. You will learn that your boyfriend can afford a trip abroad, which also inadvertently proves he has money to financially support you.

3. He can meet your family and formally ask your father's permission to marry you, if you want to go that route. But meeting the family is important.

4. He proves he is willing to cross an ocean to meet the one he loves, as you will one day if you marry him.

5. You get to share your home country and culture with him, which will make you grow closer.

6. His USD will stretch more in the Philippines. :D

Whatever path you choose, I wish you the best of luck on your journey!
